UV FILTER RESTRICTIONS.

This October we have read the latest news about the OTC Reform Law, this bill includes sun protection products and will influence the regulations of products in this category for many years. For its part, FDA publications reveal that seven of the most popular UV filters, such as trolamine salicylate and PABA, penetrate the skin and are detected in the bloodstream of volunteers at unsafe levels, without offering the consumer clear alternatives, that is daunting and discouraging. Hawaii and Florida have tried to ban Category I UV filters due to environmental concerns and have even required prescriptions for their use. Therefore, the cosmetic industry faces various problems such as the safety of UV filters, nanoparticles in solar products, the increasingly high SPF values, the new impediments established for the approval of European TEA ingredients, etc. [...]

Atopic dermatitis and sun exposure.

Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is a chronic inflammation of the skin. It affects infants and children, and the adult population to a lesser degree (1-3%). It is produced by an irregular immune system and deficiencies in the skin barrier. The main symptoms are itching, redness and inflammation of the skin. Having atopic skin leads to a higher chance of developing infections (Staphylococcus aureus) and infections aggravate symptoms and scratching increases the chance of infections. Exposure to the sun can be positive by participating in the synthesis of Vitamin D which will participate in the regulation of the immune system, but on the other hand it can be harmful since most patients are photosensitive, the sun will aggravate facial lesions and increase pigmentation of scars. According to the recommendations of the National Eczema Association for these patients, [...]

Sunburn and tanning.

There are two main types of UV radiation that we are exposed to. UVA rays and UVB rays. Overexposure to UVB rays can cause sunburn, skin cancer, cataracts (clouding of the lens of the eye) and can damage your immune system. Tanning is your body's natural reaction that occurs when your skin is exposed to the sun and UV radiation. When you tan, your body produces more melanin, a chemical within your skin. This forms a layer - the tan - to protect the skin. Tanning blocks some of the radiation, but it is not adequate protection against skin cancer. Sunburn is redness of the skin, caused by overexposure to the sun. This is a late reaction in which most pain occurs 12-24 hours after exposure. Severe sunburns can increase the risk of developing skin [...]

Do cells have memory?

Every year 62,000 new cases of advanced melanoma are diagnosed in Europe. Melanoma represents only 4% of all skin cancers but is responsible for 80% of deaths from this type of cancer. These are some data from the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV) The intensity of the burn depends “on the time and schedule of exposure, the climate, the latitude, the thickness of the ozone layer, the degree of previous pigmentation and the skin type. In all cases it is important to know that, although the symptoms disappeared in a few days, the damage to the skin remains. “The skin has memory and each sunburn causes DNA damage in the skin cell affected by the burn. These cells have the power to repair this damage, but if the burns are repeated in the [...]

UVA rays represent 95% of the UV radiation that reaches us. They are less intense than UVB rays but much more frequent, raising concern.

Unlike UVB rays, UVA rays are present in equal intensity throughout the day and throughout the year. This radiation is responsible for the immediate pigmentation of the skin (tanning process). It penetrates less deeply and can cause redness, blemishes and skin aging. To prevent premature skin aging and make our skin look young, we have to protect ourselves from UVA radiation. Thanks to the mineral filters of ADPCosmeticos that present a high solar protection, both from UVB radiation and UVA radiation, you will be able to create advanced technology anti-aging formulas using a single ingredient. High SPF and UVAPF in your formulas with a single filter. What are you waiting to try them?

There is a lack of harmonization in the regulation of sunscreen around the world.

It is difficult to launch a global sunscreen that complies with all regulations. In Europe it is considered "Cosmetic" in the United States it is classified as "OTC" (over-the-counter), in Australia it is a "Therapeutic Product", in Korea it is defined as "Functional Cosmetic" and in China it is classified as "Special Cosmetic " This is a problem that all cosmetic companies face every day, especially the formulator scientist who has to choose the ingredients of the formula very carefully in order to sell and register their products in other countries. Currently, we are not close to reaching that harmonization of coordination between countries to be able to use a single regulation around the world. At ADP Cosmetics, we develop UV mineral filters and pigments with sophisticated technology that makes them highly effective and safe [...]

Sunscreens are applied to the skin in order to avoid the harmful effects of solar radiation.

Physical filters contain microparticles that act as small mirrors that reflect solar radiation, preventing it from being absorbed by the skin.   When making a screen on the skin, this type of filter is not absorbed, and that is why its use is usually recommended for babies. Allergic, reactive or dermatitis skins must also be protected with this type of filter when exposed to the sun's rays. Therefore, people with a higher risk, whether due to sensitive, light or burn-prone skin, it is advisable to use physical filters.
